Effective December 8, 2005, all indoor public places and places of employment will be smoke-free,
including restaurants, bars, taverns, bowling centers, skating rinks, and non-tribal casinos. In
addition, smoking is prohibited within 25 feet of all entrances and exits, windows that open, and
ventilation intakes.
Compliance with the law is the responsibility of the owner, manager, operator, or another person
in charge of a public place or place of employment. Local health jurisdictions will enforce the law
for bars, restaurants, and other places of employment, and local law enforcement agencies maintain
responsibility for enforcement against individuals violating the law. Read more
about compliance with the new law.
